Andy Murray to take brief hiatus as wife Kim expects their third child
Andy Murray will take a hiatus from his knee recovery because his wife Kim is currently expecting the couples third child in the coming weeks.
Murray is likely a break following next weeks European Open, but he is ready fly back should Kim go into an early labour and to leave Antwerp.
Obviously the baby can come any moment from pretty much weekly. I would adjust my schedule when I could not go to Antwerp, the former world No 1 told The Times.
My strategy would be to perform Antwerp and then Im done through into the Davis Cup (November 18-25). If the baby came first, Id miss Antwerp and maybe play in the Paris Masters (October 26-November 3).
The 32-year-old has returned to singles contest following a hip replacement surgery.
A rush into the quarter-finals of the China Open last week where world No 5 Dominic Thiem beat him – had been accompanied by a defeat to world no 12 Fabio Fognini at the Shanghai Experts.
Murray is happy with his progress and the three-time Grand Slam winner is optimistic of being able to contend with the worlds finest going.
He added:Im surprised with how eloquent (my yield ) has been. I had two years of having plenty of pain after every match. I play a game, the entire body hurts, I have some pain in my back, the muscles are tired and things like this, but my hip is fine and that I couldnt recall what that was like previously.
Ive been aggressive up to now. I could get on the market, if I can keep advancing a few things then maybe theres an outside chance.
I want to be aggressive in the huge events against the top players. Im not there yet, but Im closer than I had been a month ago, and even nearer than a couple of months ago.
Murray is the first participant to come back to the singles game following his kind of operation, even though Bob Bryan has managed to continue his profession after a similar procedure.
If he suffer an additional injury to the area, however, Murray will be ready to call it.
I know that its not important when or where I end my career, he said. When I had yet another hip accident, I probably would not continue. My trendy can break and that would be it. If this happened Id be finished.
However, theres not any indication of that happening anytime soon. It seems to be getting more powerful all the time.
