Andrew Strauss: ‘Exceptional’ former England captain receives knighthood

Former England captain Andrew Strauss has been described as”an outstanding individual” after receiving a knighthood in ex-Prime Minister Theresa May’s resignation honours list.
42, strauss, led England into the number one Exam ranking, 2 Ashes wins, in addition to, in his 50 Tests.
Ex-England trainer Andy Flower, accountable during Strauss’ time as captain, also paid tribute to his skipper.
“I can’t think of a person more deserving of this honor,” Flower said.
“As a player he had been resilient and tough, as a captain that he balanced a firm hand and ethical compass using a compassion and empathy that supposed he had been loved and respected in the dressing area by his players and the team ”

Strauss scored 7,037 runs in an average of 40.91 at 100 England Tests and combined the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as England’s director of cricket after his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2012.
He proceeded to establish a foundation in her name after her passing in December 2018, also left the role to support his wife Ruth, who was treated for terminal cancer
ECB chief executive Tom Harrison added:”Andrew was encouraged to shape the future plan of the men’s international teams – as a way to allow an environment that could see England as dwell contenders for the World Cup in 2019, an aim they so thrillingly delivered just a couple short months ago.
“It was with the identical course and courage that he along with his family setup the Ruth Strauss Foundation to raise money and awareness only a few months after losing Ruth to a rare kind of cancer.
“Apart from his achievements on and off the pitch, Andrew is widely regarded as an outstanding individual in our game and this wonderful accolade will be celebrated around the cricketing world”
